Her debut movie hardly set the cash registers ringing at the box office, but her innocent face stayed in the mind of audience. Bhama arrived and made her mark in the industry playing a couple of amiable roles. Having cut her teeth in the Malayalam and Tamil industries the actress from Manarkadu in Kottayam is all set to prove her acting skill in Kannada and Telugu movies. Bhamas debut movies in Telugu and Kannada - Manchivadu and Modalasala - are ready to hit the silver screen shortly. She received offers from both the industries since the release of her debut movie Nivedyam directed by the late Lohitadas in 2007. At first she was reluctant to take up offers as she was not comfortable with the language, but later she realised her mistake. It was an entirely different world compared to the industry here. I learned a lot about acting and technical perfection in filmmaking from my experience there, she says. Bhama says Kannada was easier than Telugu for her. I worked hard and learned my dialogues by heart. There were also Malayalam translators to assist me. Bhama feels unlike in Malayalam, heroines have an equally important role in the success of Kannada and Telugu movies. The audience is keen to have a good actress in the lead, so much so a film with a top hero can end up a flop if the heroine performs badly. Manchivadu directed by P Lakshminarayana (Deepti) under the banner of Mega Super Good Films has Tanish and Raji, son of music director Koti, in the lead roles. K Viswanatha, director of the path breaking film Sankarabharanam, is also playing a key role. It was cameraman Venugopal who suggested Bhamas name for the film. The director came to our flat at Edapally and narrated the story. I was instantly impressed by the script, says the actress. Bhama is hopeful that the film will make the perfect launch pad for her. In the film Bhama plays the role of Indu, a very bold and modern girl brought up in USA, who comes to her ancestral home in Andhra Pradesh to spend her vacation with her grandfather. The story mainly revolves around how the characters played by Tanish and Raji fall in love with her. Modalasala, her debut Kannada film directed by Purushothama under the banner of Karnataka Talkies, is based on father-daughter relations. Bhama stars opposite Yash. Incidentally it was actress Vinaya Prasad (of Sthree fame) who recommended Bhama to the director who was looking for a fresh face for the lead role. Having completed both the projects Bhama is now busy polishing her skills in classical and western dance. She says her new-found love for dance is the result of the realisation that being a good dancer could help her establish herself in the southern film industry. Aerobics and yoga have become part of her daily routine. Though struck by the industries in the neighbouring states, Bhama vouches that her first preference will always be Malayalam movies. Last year she turned down many offers since she found the roles offered to her repetitive, reminiscent of characters she had already played. Her criteria in selection limited the number of her films to three last year. But Bhama, now busy with a few Malayalam projects, is hopeful that the new year will bring her a lot of different and memorable characters. I prefer to be known as a versatile actress capable of doing all types of characters, Bhama says. She candidly admits that she is fully focused on her career now with even her family coming second. But the actress, who says marriage plans have yet to cross her heart, is very serious about her education. She enrolled for BA Sociology by distant education, but could not appear for exams as shooting schedules kept her busy. However, she is determined to complete the course. Before entering the tinsel world Bhama was another girl next door with a twinkle in her eyes. She was always beautiful, but now experience in the industry has also made her bold.

The Malayalam Cine Technicians\' Association (MACTA), which comprises film professionals from light boys to directors, Tuesday said it would support film actor Thilakan if he launched a protest against his dropping from a new film, \"Christian Brothers\". \"We will have no qualms to extend our full support to Thilakan,\" MACTA president Kanam Rajendran told reporters here. Rajendran is also the general secretary of the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), affiliated to the the Communist Party of India (CPI). Thilakan Sunday lashed out at both Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) and Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) and also a superstar for denying him an opportunity to act in the new film \"Christian Brothers\". The veteran actor said that both FEFKA and AMMA and a particular superstar are against him. He did not name the superstar. \"They are trying to take vengeance against me because I acted in a film directed by Vinayan, who was against all these groups. But I am not going to take this lightly. I will take the fight into the enemy camp,\" said 74-year-old Thilakan, who was honoured with a Padma Shri last year. Incidentally, FEFKA was formed last year after a major group broke away from MACTA. Rajendran took over as the president after MACTA got themselves registered as a trade union. \"Today AMMA, which is to look after the welfare of the artistes, is least bothered to protect their interests,\" Rajendran alleged.
The first hit of 2010 is none other than \"Happy Husbands \". The multi-starrer is running successfully in all theatres across the state. The movie directed by Saji Surendran stars three heroes and four heroines. This humorous movie has been backed by comedians Suraj Venjaramoodu and Salim Kumar. Insiders feel that the movie will continue to its run for couple of months.

The film, \'Arya \', made young Telugu actor Allu Arjun a household name even with Malayalam film audiences. Because of that, his later films like Happy, Bunny, Hero and Krishna were all successful in Kerala. And now, along with his other films, the actor will be returning with the sequel to Arya. Arya-2 will release on 5th February in 80 centers. The actor who visited Kerala for the recently held Asianet awards was cheered on with great gusto. This shows he still holds that charm over Malayalam audiences and this may just work in drawing crowds for his film.
After the success of his last film Wanted Boney Kapoor is kicked about the idea of remaking one more south Indian film in Hindi along with the dynamic Prabhu Dheva and Salman Khan jodi. According to sources Boney Kapoor saw a Malayalam film Bodyguard in Ernakulam and has been in awe of it. It is also believed that Kapoor had a meeting with Johnny Sagarika, producer of Bodyguard. Buzz is that Boney is planning to rope in Prabhu Deva yet again to direct this film with Salman Khan in the title role. When asked, Boney Kapoor confirmed saying, Yes I went to Ernakulam during my visit to Chennai and saw Bodyguard as Prabhu recommended it. Its a good film but I didnt go with an intention to buy its rights. Its director Siddhique is quite known and has made a lot of good films. Priyadarshan has remade most his films in Hindi. Boney ensures that he will be soon working with Salman and Prabhu Dheva. Ill be working with them but if you ask me particularly about Bodyguard, I am not sure as I am yet to decide about its Hindi remake. It can be recalled that Tamil actor Vijay also approached its makers to remake Bodyguard in Tamil.

The film, which virtually swept the awards in the Narrative Feature section, won awards for the best narrative feature film, best narrative feature film director, best narrative screenplay (by Sindhuraj), best original score (Rajat Dholakia and Shantanu Moitra), best production design (Nitin Desai) and the best costume design (Bhanu Athaiyah and Simple Kapadia). Mithun Chakraborty and Dimple Kapadia play the lead roles.
