The big evenings finally here! After several weeks of suspense, the 57th Idea Filmfare Awards 2009 South will be distributed amidst much fanfare and pomp. An evening that will see performances high on glitz, glamour and gloss by celebrities from the south Indian film industry. While filmi fans in all the four states are eagerly waiting to find out who all walk away with the awards, the celebrities themselves are looking forward for an evening in which cinema will be celebrated and hold pride of place. For those associated with filmdom, its a matter of great pride to flaunt the prestigious Lady in Black. Actress Tamannaah has been nominated for Kanden Kadhalai (Tamil) and Koncham Istam Koncham Kastam (Telugu). Its such a great honour, states the actress, Its great when talent in the cinema industry is recognised. Im looking forward to the awards; am sure itll be a wonderful night. Sameera Reddy is excited that shell be performing for Tamil songs on a big stage for the first time. Im really excited, she gushes, Rehearsals have been on, and theyve been tiring... but well, Im looking forward to the actual event when Ill be on stage. Ill surely be performing to a number from Vaaranam Aayiram . Another person who just cannot wait for the evening to arrive is actor Ganesh Venkatraman, wholl be hosting the event. The Filmfare Awards is like the Oscars of the South. Its a prestigious show and to be a part of it is something Im proud of, he says, Im hosting the awards ceremony this year with Andrea. In fact, I arrived in Chennai two days before the event to practise for the show. Its going to be a celebration of cinema, for sure, he says. That, combined with scintillating stage shows, dazzling dances and inspiring speeches should make this awards evening one thatll be talked about for a long time to come.
