Superstar Rajnikanths �Basha�, released in the year 1995, was not only a box-office record breaking film but was also a trend-setter in many ways for those who wanted to make films showing the �anti-hero� as the ultimate hero. The film, prior to �Chandramukhi� and �Sivaji: The Boss�, was widely considered the greatest hit of the superstar, who has more percentage of hit films to his credit than any other actor in the world. Sources say that �Basha-2�, a sequel to the film, could be on the anvil soon and point out the speech made by superstar Rajnikanth at a recent marriage function of R.M. Veerappan family (who owns �Sathya Movies�, the producer of Basha) that only �Veerappan could think of and make a film like as grand as �Basha�. Rajni�s statement appears to have rekindled the producer in R.M. Veerappan who now reportedly wants to make a sequel to the film. Unconfirmed reports say that the �story department� of Sathya Movies has already started the preparatory work of stitching up a story and screenplay for the film that is being planned. The film could be launched as soon as Rajni�s �Enthiran: The Robot� hits the screens in August, it is said. Thyagarajan, Veerapan�s son-in-law, was asked for his views on the reported �sequel� film. He said that nothing has been finalized �officially� and added that as and when such a thing happens, it would immediately be made known to the media. Sources say that instead of naming the sequel as �Basha-2�, a new and catchy title would be chosen and add that the �discussion of story� has begun in right earnest.
