AIR is paying tribute to 82-year-old Malayalam cinema

Commemorating the 60 years of its Malayalam transmission, All India Radio (AIR), Thiruvananthapuram, is paying tribute to 82-year-old Malayalam cinema with the launch of �Malayala Cinema: Flashback. With this mega serial sound track, AIR takes listeners on a nostalgic trip through the history of Malayalam cinema, where its actual creators will give the narration. The programme will be launched on April 15 at 11 a.m. as live from Agastheshwaram in Kanyakumari district, where J.C. Daniel, father of Malayalam cinema, was laid to rest. Daniel�s granddaughter Janett will light the lamp, marking the launch of the programme. The programme will feature the transformation of cinema from silence to sound, black and white to colour, and use of innovative technology in filmmaking. Malayalam cinema�s actors and technicians will join AIR in this historic trip. The programme also includes the history of Malayalam film songs. As many as 500 cine artists are participating in the programme. Tune in to the live programme every Sunday, between 11 a.m. and 12 noon. Moreover, exciting gifts await the listeners who can answer correctly the question raised at the end of every episode
